Take Vacations, Plan Ahead! Make Time.

Some people never go on a vacation. They say they don’t have money for that. We all work hard and deserve vacations. If you don’t plan them and book them somewhere, at the end of the year you will have never gone anywhere. Many vacations don’t have to cost a lot of money or any money (StayCation at all. It’s the point of taking time off from work.

A colleague of mine never took vacations. Said he was “too busy” and just never found the time to take a vacation with his wife. “YOU MUST MAKE TIME” for a vacation or you will never take any.

My wife and I have always taken vacations, even when our 3 girls were little. Having children isn’t an excuse to never go on vacation. Some say, “it’s such a hassle” to try and go on a vacation with children. I disagree with that statement!

Just like making a list to go grocery shopping (planning ahead), we all have to do the same thing when it comes to taking a vacation, Plan Ahead! The best time to plan a vacation is when you are getting ready to go on one.

My wife and I always pick the vacation dates and the place we want to go way in advance, then we work everything around those dates. It’s 2023, and all of our dates and locations are picked and we are working on 2024 dates and ideas for places to go. 2023, we go to DisneyWorld, Smoky Mountains, Vancouver, Canada and Oktoberfest on the Danube River in Germany.

I can tell you by past experience that you should reserve a car rental as soon as you get your flights to wherever you go. A few years ago we went to Vermont on Columbus Day weekend (the busiest time of the year in Waterbury, VT), tree colors are changing and I completely forgot to reserve a car. I ended up driving a 12-passenger van (for the 2 of us), in and around the mountains of Vermont for 5-days. I will never make that mistake ever again! We laughed all week about this adventure!

Recently we had to cancel a vacation we had planned with 7 of our grandchildren for a few reasons. At the time, it was upsetting, but then we just booked trip to Vancouver, Canada instead of DisneyWorld.
